A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to realign the districts for the election of the members of the North carolina Senate.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 120‑1(a) is rewritten to read:

"(a)      For the purpose of nominating and electing members of the North Carolina Senate in 2018 and periodically thereafter, the State of North Carolina shall be divided into the following districts with each district electing one Senator:

District 1: …."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to elections held on or after January 1, 2018.
