A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to clarify that a dealer license plate may be displayed on a motor vehicle driven on a highway by a person who is an employee of a dealer that employs at all times no less than fifteen motor vehicle sales representatives who are required to be licensed under article 12 of chapter 20 of the general statutes.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 20‑79(d)(5) is amended by adding a new sub‑subdivision to read:

"§ 20‑79.  Dealer license plates.

(d)        Restrictions on Use. – A dealer license plate may be displayed only on a motor vehicle that meets all of the following requirements:

(5)        Is driven on a highway by a person who meets one of the following descriptions:

g.         Is an employee of a dealer that employs at all times no less than 15 motor vehicle sales representatives who are required to be licensed under Article 12 of this Chapter."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
