A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds for the north carolina arts council programs.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.(a)  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Cultural Resources, the sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the 2008‑2009 fiscal year in recurring funds to be allocated to the North Carolina Arts Council. These funds shall be used as follows:

(1)       $500,000 for the Grassroots Arts Program.

(2)       $500,000 for the Basic Grants Program.

SECTION 1.(b)  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Cultural Resources, the sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the 2008‑2009 fiscal year to support cARTwheels, an education touring program of the North Carolina Arts Council.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2008.
