HOUSE BILL 371

 

AN ACT TO INCREASE THE FEE CHARGED BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO CERTIFY A DOCUMENT ON FILE IN THAT OFFICE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 147-37 reads as rewritten:

"§ 147-37.  Secretary of State; fees to be collected.

When no other charge is provided by law, the Secretary of State shall collect such fees for copying any document or record on file in his office which in his discretion bears a reasonable relation to the quantity of copies supplied and the cost of purchasing or leasing and maintaining copying equipment. These fees may be changed from time to time, but a schedule of fees shall be available on request at all times. In addition to copying charges, the Secretary of State shall collect a fee of two dollars ($2.00) six dollars and twenty-five cents ($6.25) for certifying any document or record on file in his office or for issuing any certificate as to the facts shown by the records on file in his office."

Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 1991.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 27th day of June, 1991.
