HOUSE BILL 829

 

AN ACT TO REGULATE THE TRAPPING SEASON IN GATES COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  It is unlawful for any person to take by trapping any game or furbearing animal or to set traps or possess steel traps or connibear traps on the land of another between the end of trapping season as set by the regulations of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and either January 2 or the last day of deer hunting season, whichever is later.

Sec. 2.  Violation of this act is an infraction as defined in G.S. 14-3.1 and results in a penalty of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for a first offense and a penalty of fifty dollars ($50.00) for each subsequent offense.

Sec. 3.  This act is enforceable by law enforcement officers of the Wildlife Resources Commission, by sheriffs and deputy sheriffs, and by other peace officers with general subject matter jurisdiction.

Sec. 4.  This act applies only to Gates County.

Sec. 5.  This act shall become effective October 1, 1989, and shall apply to offenses occurring on or after that date.
