HOUSE BILL 220

 

AN ACT TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE NONPARTISAN MITCHELL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION FROM MAY TO NOVEMBER.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  The Mitchell County Board of Education shall be elected beginning in 1988 at the time of the general election as set by G.S. 163-1.  The election shall be conducted on a nonpartisan plurality basis, with the results determined in accordance with G.S. 163-292.  Candidates shall file not earlier than noon on the first Monday in June and not later than noon on the last Friday in July.  Except as provided by this act, or any local act,  elections shall be held in accordance with the provisions of G.S. 115C-37.

Sec. 2.  This act is effective upon ratification.
