SENATE BILL 68

 

AN ACT TO AMEND AND CLARIFY THE PENALTIES FOR DRIVING ON A PERMANENTLY REVOKED LICENSE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 20-28(b) is amended by deleting the words "imprisoned for not less than one year" and substituting the words:

"imprisoned for not less than 30 days nor more than two years and fined not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) in the discretion of the court. The first 30 days of imprisonment for a violation of this offense shall not be subject to suspension or parole."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective October 1, 1983.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 7th day of March, 1983.
