HOUSE BILL 680

AN ACT TO REQUIRE COUNTY DIRECTORS OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO RESPOND TO REQUESTS FOR CONSENT TO SEPARATE AN INFANT FROM ITS PARENT.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

Section 1.  G.S. 108A-14 is amended by removing the word "and" from the end of subdivision (11), by deleting the period at the end of subdivision (12) and substituting "; and", and by adding a new subdivision to read as follows:

"(13)   To respond by investigation and action to a request for written consent to the plan of separation of a child under six months of age from its custodial parent, pursuant to G.S. 14- 320."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective October 1, 1983.
