AN ACT TO ADD A SPEED RESTRICTION FOR SUBDIVISION STREETS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 20-141(b) is amended by adding subsection (3) to read:  "(3) Thirty-five miles per hour on subdivision streets outside municipal corporate limits for all vehicles."

Sec. 2.  A "subdivision street" is a street or road which has been dedicated to the public to provide ingress and egress to lots or parcels which have been laid out for the purpose of providing residential or industrial sites for sale. These lots or parcels are of insufficient size to be used primarily for farming purposes.

Sec. 3.  This legislation does not apply to major arterial streets or expressways dedicated or constructed as an integral part of the subdivision.

Sec. 4.  This act applies only to Mecklenburg County.

Sec. 5.  This act is effective upon ratification.
