AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 116-186 RELATING TO REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES REGULARLY OPERATED OR MAINTAINED ON CAMPUSES OF PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 116-186 is rewritten to read as follows:

"§ 116-186.  Registration and regulation of motor vehicles regularly operated or maintained on campuses. — The board of trustees of each institution enumerated in Articles 1, 2 and 3 of this Chapter may adopt reasonable rules and regulations governing the registration and operation on the campus of the institution of motor vehicles regularly maintained or operated thereon by any persons, including students, faculty, staff, and others. In connection with registration, the board of trustees may charge a registration fee. These fees shall be placed in a special fund at each institution to be used to develop, maintain, and supervise parking areas and facilities and traffic control. No fee may be charged for registration of vehicles operated by physically handicapped persons."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective upon its ratification.
