AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 95-87 TO INCREASE MINIMUM WAGES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 95-87 of the General Statutes is hereby amended to read as follows:

"§ 95-87.  Minimum wages. — Every employer shall pay to each of his employees wages as follows: (a) at a rate not less than one dollar and forty-five cents ($1.45) per hour after July 1, 1971; (b) at a rate not less than one dollar and sixty cents ($1.60) per hour after July 1, 1972. This act shall not apply to part time employees who work 16 hours or less per week if the establishment where such part time employees are employed has three or less full time employees at any one time."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective on July 1, 1971.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 1st day of April, 1971.
