The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Wilson is hereby authorized in its discretion to submit to the people of the City of Wilson the question of whether or not the Board of Commissioners of the City of Wilson should enact a Sunday closing ordinance. Such election or referendum shall be held at the general municipal election in May 1967 and shall be held under the election provisions as contained in the Charter of the City of Wilson and shall in substance submit the question of whether the electors of the City of Wilson are for the enactment of a Sunday closing ordinance or whether the electors of the City of Wilson are against the enactment of a Sunday closing ordinance.
