AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 249, SESSION LAWS OF 1961, AND CHAPTER 67, PUBLIC-LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1933, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF GREENE COUNTY TO FIX THE SALARY OF THE SHERIFF, DEPUTY SHERIFFS AND TAX COLLECTOR OF GREENE COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Chapter 249, Session Laws of 1961, is hereby amended by rewriting Section 1 thereof to read as follows:

"Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Greene County is hereby authorized to fix, in its discretion, the salary of the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriffs of Greene County. The salaries fixed by the Board of Commissioners shall be paid from the general fund of the county and shall be in lieu of all other fees and compensation. All fees allowed by law for the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriffs shall be paid into the general fund of the county."

Sec. 2. Chapter 67, Public-Local and Private Laws of 1933, is hereby amended by rewriting Section 3 thereof to read as follows:

"Sec. 3. The Board of County Commissioners of Greene County, in its discretion, may place with the tax collector taxes now evidenced by outstanding tax certificates for collection. The Board of County Commissioners of Greene County is hereby authorized, in its discretion, to fix the salary of the Tax Collector of Greene County, and such salary shall be in lieu of all other compensation for services performed by the tax collector."

Sec. 3. Section 7 and Section 8 of Chapter 249, Session Laws of 1961, and all laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 1, 1967.
