AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 6(e) OF CHAPTER 708 OF THE 1943 SESSION LAWS OF NORTH CAROLINA.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. That Section 6(e) of Chapter 708 of the 1943 Session Laws of North Carolina be and the same is hereby amended by adding at the end of said Section the following:

"Provided, further, that any employee, who has 20 years or more continuous service with the City of Wilmington and whose position is abolished by an Act of the Legislature while so employed before he or she reaches 60 years of age, may elect to have his or her employment status frozen at the time employment is terminated and be eligible for retirement upon attaining the age of 60 years, as otherwise provided herein."

Sec. 2. That all laws or clauses of laws in conflict with this Act to the extent of such conflict are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
