AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 88, PRIVATE LAWS OF 1887, BEING THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF SILER CITY, RELATING TO SALARIES OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 3 of Chapter 88, Private Laws of 1887, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following: "The mayor shall receive such salary as the Town Board of Commissioners shall by ordinance determine. The mayor's salary shall not be increased or decreased during the term for which he is elected. The Board of Commissioners, by ordinance, may establish a salary for its members, and such salary may be reduced or increased, but no increase shall be effective during the term in which the increase is voted."

Sec. 2. All salaries and remunerations heretofore authorized and paid by the governing body of the Town of Siler City to members of such body are hereby ratified and validated.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
