AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 1291, SESSION LAWS OF NORTH CAROLINA, 1957, BEING THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF EMERALD ISLE RELATING TO THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. That Chapter 1291 of the Session Laws of North Carolina, 1957, is hereby amended by striking out all of Section 3 as the same appears therein and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

"Sec. 3. The governing body of the Town of Emerald Isle shall consist of a Mayor and five commissioners who shall be elected as hereinafter provided beginning with the regular municipal election to be held in July 1967 and biennially thereafter."

Sec. 2. That Chapter 1291 of the Session Laws of North Carolina is hereby further amended by striking out in Section 6 the word "three" immediately following the word "of" and preceding the word "members" in the first sentence thereof and substituting in lieu thereof the word "five".

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
