AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 5, PRIVATE LAWS OF 1935, TO REQUIRE A FILING FEE OF CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICES OF MAYOR AND ALDERMAN IN THE TOWN OF FRANKLIN, MACON COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 2 of Chapter 5, Private Laws of 1935, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"Any qualified voter desiring to become a candidate for the office of Mayor or Alderman shall file with the Town Clerk a Notice of Candidacy on such form and at such time as prescribed by the Board of Aldermen by ordinance. Any candidate for the office of Mayor shall pay to the Clerk a filing fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) and any candidate for the office of Alderman shall pay a filing fee of five dollars ($5.00)."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
