AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 60-83 SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNOR TO COMMISSION CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND OTHER STATE INSTITUTIONS AS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 60-83 is hereby amended by inserting the words "or incorporated security patrols or corporations engaged in providing security or protective services for persons or property or education institution, whether State or private, or any other State institution," immediately following the word "agencies" in line 4. Wherever the word "company" is used in Article 10 of Chapter 60 of the General Statutes the same shall be deemed to include any above referred to institution. Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 60-85, any person commissioned pursuant to this Act shall wear such badge as the institution may designate and direct.

Sec. l 1/2.  G. S. 60-85 is hereby amended by adding at the end of line 2 the words "or other appropriate police identification."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
