AN ACT TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN DAVIE COUNTY FROM THREE TO FIVE AND TO PROVIDE FOR STAGGERED TERMS OF OFFICE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. At the regular election of county officers to be held in Davie County in 1964 there shall be elected five members to the board of county commissioners. The three receiving the highest number of votes shall serve for terms of four (4) years. The two receiving the next highest number of votes shall serve for terms of two (2) years. At the regular election for county officers in 1966 and quadrennially thereafter two members of the board of county commissioners shall be elected to serve for terms of four (4) years. At the regular election for county officers in 1968 and quadrennially thereafter three members of the board of county commissioners shall be elected to serve for terms of four (4) years.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
