AN ACT TO ALTERNATE THE TERMS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF WADESBORO.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 4 of Chapter 704 of the Session Laws of 1947 is hereby rewritten to read as follows:

"Sec. 4. The Mayor of the Town of Wadesboro shall be elected on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May, and biennially thereafter. At the election to be held in May 1963, there shall be elected five (5) members to the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Wadesboro. The two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes in the May 1963 election shall serve for a term of four (4) years. The three (3) candidates receiving the next highest number of votes shall serve for a term of two (2) years. At the election to be held in May 1965, and quadrennially thereafter, there shall be elected three (3) members to serve for a term of four (4) years. At the election to be held in May 1967, and quadrennially thereafter, there shall be elected two (2) members to serve for a term of four (4) years."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification,
