AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE AN OPINION ELECTION IN THE TOWN OF LOUISBURG ON THE QUESTION OF THE FLUORIDATION OF THE TOWN WATER SUPPLY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Town Council of the Town of Louisburg is hereby authorized in its discretion to conduct an election for the purpose of determining the wishes of its voters as to the fluoridation of the town water supply.

Sec. 2. Such election may be held at the same time as the regular municipal election in May, 1963; and the town council may give such notice of the opinion election as it deems advisable.

Sec. 3. In such opinion election, the ballots used shall contain the following words: "For fluoridation of the town water supply" and "Against fluoridation of the town water supply."

Sec. 4. The result of such election shall constitute merely an expression of opinion of those persons voting, and shall not be binding upon the town council.

Sec. 5. The town council may expend funds from the general fund of the town for the printing of ballots and for the conduct of the election authorized by this Act.

Sec. 6. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Sec. 7. This Act shall be effective from and after its ratification.
